Tuscany gave us a slower rhythm after the energy of Florence. A road through the vines led us into rolling hills, olive groves, cypress-lined gardens, and a working winery where the landscape and the traditions behind each bottle became part of the same story.
The journey
The change of pace began as Florence faded behind us. Busy streets gave way to winding country roads, and the view opened into green hills patterned with vineyards, olive groves, stone homes, and dark rows of cypress trees.
It was the Tuscany we had pictured for years, but being surrounded by it felt different from seeing it in photographs. The landscape seemed to invite us to stop measuring the day by landmarks and simply enjoy where the road led next.

Rows of vines stretched across the hillside beneath a brilliant blue sky. Walking among them brought the scale of the vineyard into focus, from clusters of grapes tucked beneath the leaves to the olive trees and distant ridgelines surrounding the property.
The experience made the countryside feel tangible. Tuscany was no longer just a beautiful backdrop; it was a cultivated landscape shaped by seasons, patient work, and traditions passed from one generation to the next.

Inside the winery, the scenery gave way to polished steel tanks, brick-vaulted rooms, and rows of wooden barrels. Seeing each stage of the process connected the grapes outside with the wine aging quietly below the estate.
The cellar carried its own sense of time. Everything about it encouraged patience—the cool rooms, the carefully marked barrels, and the understanding that some experiences cannot be rushed.

Beyond the cellar, the estate unfolded into formal gardens, lemon trees, fountains, and a cypress avenue pointing toward the horizon. Every doorway seemed to frame another view of the countryside.
This was the part of Tuscany that stayed with us most: the balance between cultivated beauty and an easy, unhurried way of living. We left with photographs, but also with the feeling that we had briefly stepped into a much slower clock.
